FY2019 APPLICATION FOR ELDER AND VULNERABLE ADULT JUSTICE PROGRAM

Background

The H-GAC Elder and Vulnerable Adult Justice Program provides regional support for establishing multi-disciplinary case review teams in each county as well as technical assistance, in-region training by national elder abuse experts, and a Regional Board of Experts. The program will also provide limited services directly to victims and their families through a regional intake line that offers crisis counseling and referrals to local service providers and through the recruitment and training of a new corps of volunteer victim advocates trained to serve at-risk seniors.

Current Situation

Staff is requesting approval to accept—a Victims of Crime Act grant for operating funds to continue the Elder and Vulnerable Adult Justice program activities through September 30, 2019.  H-GAC will continue training, technical assistance and planning activities to support a coordinated community response to elder abuse across the 13-county H-GAC region.
