FEMA TEMPORARY HOUSING PROGRAM

Background

H-GAC administers the FEMA temporary housing program in partnership with FEMA and the General Land Office for our 13-county region outside of Houston, which administers its own program. All clients are approved by FEMA. H-GAC’s role is found in delivery of housing and case management. This is a three-phase program:

·        Placement/Installation – placing clients into housing units

·        Re-certification – working with clients to develop housing plans

·        Deactivation – working with clients to surrender housing units

This program provides temporary housing assistance and is anticipated to end by February 2019.

Current Situation

H-GAC is finalizing the placement of clients in temporary housing units and estimates this phase of the program will be finished at the end of July. H-GAC will conduct the on-going re-certification and deactivation phases of the program. Our progress is summarized below:

·        Total Applicants to date: 419

·        Applicants Who Declined Housing Assistance: 319

·        Applicants Licensed in to date: 98

·        Applicants Still in Process: 2
