COMMUTER AND TRANSIT SERVICES PILOT PROJECTS

Background

The Transportation Policy Council has programmed federal Congestion Mitigation Air Quality funding for H-GAC to continue the implementation of regional commuter and transit pilot projects. H-GAC has successfully contracted with transportation providers and local governments to provide services that benefit major employment and living centers, park and ride services, fixed route circulators, work to work shuttles, and subscription express services. To qualify for funding, the project must demonstrate a measurable emissions reduction, a benefit to the region, an additional commuting option without duplication or replacing existing transit service.

Current Situation

Upon completion of the funding agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), H-GAC will advertise and solicit proposals for the available funding. Eligible sponsors include public transit service providers and local governments working with their transit service providers.
