HURRICANE HARVEY AERIAL IMAGERY ACQUISITION

Background

On December 15, 2015, a two-year contract was awarded with Surdex Corporation for acquiring over 7,000 square miles of high resolution digital aerial imagery services of the region for cost share participants.

 

The collection was completed and has been made available to the general public, through H-GAC websites.


Current Situation 

During Hurricane Harvey, Harris County Flood Control District and other Geographic Data Workgroup members asked H-GAC GIS staff to facilitate the Post Hurricane imagery collection for the recovery efforts and assessment of the region. On August 29, 2017, H-GAC admended the contract with Surdex Corporation to acquire over 10,000 square miles of the region area.

Deliverables                Online access to unprocessed raw imagery within 48 hours of final flight

 Full processed, edge matched, GeoTIFF and MrSID compressed files 3-4 months after initial flight
