Since 1992, H-GAC has been the lead agency responsible for the Texas Clean Rivers Program in the four drainage basins. This work is performed under contract with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. H-GAC coordinates with local agencies to collect data from their existing sampling programs and also subcontracts with local governments, institutions, and consultants to fill gaps and focus on problem areas.

During FY16-17, H-GAC contracted with Eastex Environmental Laboratory to conduct laboratory analysis of water samples and other related services. This contract allows for a twenty-four month extension based on satisfactory performance. Staff proposes renewing the contract for twenty-four months. Eastex Environmental Laboratory will analyze approximately 708 water quality tests per quarter.  

The proposed contract has been recommended by H-GAC’s Clean Rivers Program Steering Committee and all data will be collected under an approved Quality Assurance Project Plan. Activities under this contract will commence in September 2017 and continue through August 31, 2019.
