WORKFORCE ADDITIONAL FUNDS

Background

Periodically during the year, H-GAC receives additional funds for the regional workforce system.

Current Situation

Texas Workforce Commission is providing $200,000 in infrastructure funding to modify local career offices for the addition of vocational rehabilitation staff. Examples include installation of IT connection lines and building out of office space.   Over the next several years, these staff will be moving into career offices throughout the region to integrate rehabilitation services into the regional workforce system.  H-GAC proposes to contract with Interfaith of the Woodlands, which operates the offices currently being modified.

San Jacinto College is providing $33,566 in additional funds to support staff ombudsmen that help connect workforce customers with training for in-demand jobs offered by the College.  We currently use funds from the College for this purpose; additional funds will expand the capacity of this service.  H-GAC proposes to contract these funds to BakerRipley, the workforce contractor employing the ombudsmen staff.
