HOMELAND SECURITY 2017 FUNDING | | | |
| | | | | | | | Background | The H-GAC region is expected to receive an allocation from the FY 17 State Homeland Security Program Grant funding; however, due to the absence of a federal appropriations bill for FY 2017 the amount of the allocation is currently unknown. The US Department of Homeland Security has instructed each state to proceed with drafting investment justifications for proposed FY 17 projects in accordance with last year’s guidelines. |
| |
| | | | | | | | Current Situation | Project applications were submitted within one of six eligible activities as listed in the FY17 Request for Applications:
- Intelligence and Information Sharing
- Interoperable Communications
- Special Response Teams and First Responder Capabilities (Including Border Security)
- State, Regional, and Local Planning
- Operational Coordination
- Critical Infrastructure
The Regional Homeland Security Coordinating Council reviewed the eligible FY17 grant applications and made funding recommendations for 45 separate projects on March 17, 2017. The RHSCC’s funding recommendations are in the table on page 2 of this item.
