CITY OF HOUSTON SOUTHEAST HOUSTON MOBILITY PLAN

Background

At the request of local governments and transportation agencies, H–GAC conducts sub-regional transportation studies resulting in recommendations which will improve transportation access, reduce vehicle crashes, mitigate traffic congestion and enhance economic development within the project study areas. H-GAC is partnering with the City of Houston to conduct the Southeast Houston Mobility Plan. The purpose of the study is to conduct a comprehensive multimodal mobility study in the Southeast Houston area. The study area is bound by Interstate 45 in the east, Interstate Loop 610 to the north, State Highway 288 in the west, and Beltway 8 to the south. The Plan will be used to guide the City of Houston’s multimodal mobility planning efforts and identify transportation projects and services that will improve mobility and access in the area.

Current Situation

The City of Houston is requesting financial assistance from H-GAC to support its Southeast Houston Mobility Plan. The City of Houston City Council approved $100,000 in local match for the project in March 2017 and will seek the services of transportation planning/engineering consultant(s) to prepare the Plan.
