INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH TEXAS A&M TRANSPORTATION INSTITUTE FOR SUPPORT ON TRAVEL DEMAND MODELING

Background
H-GAC’s Metropolitan Planning Organization has been engaged in multi-year model update and development programs to enhance the current set of regional travel demand analysis tools, develop advanced travel demand forecasting and integrated traffic operating models, collect and to analyze traffic data, and research impact of emerging transportation technologies on travel demands. These models are used to develop the region’s long-range transportation plan, conduct roadway and transit feasibility analysis, develop county and corridor transportation plans, and assist with design of transportation facilities.

Current Situation 
The Texas A&M Transportation Institute has assisted H-GAC staff in data preparation, application of new analytical software, data management and visualization tools, as well as validation of modeling systems to actual counts of automobile and transit users. H-GAC staff is planning to to seek assistance from the Texas A&M Transportation Institute for the next two-years (FY20-21) on this initiative.
