The Houston-Galveston Area Council has been administering the Texas Community Development Program since 1983. The Office of Rural Affairs – Texas Department of Agriculture, which oversees this program, requires each grantee to perform a well-publicized activity to further fair housing opportunities within its region. This year marks the forty-ninth anniversary of the National Fair Housing Act of 1968.

The adoption of this resolution recognizes April as Fair Housing Month for the Gulf Coast State Planning Region and complies with the requirements set by the Office of Rural Affairs – Texas Department of Agriculture. The resolution is part of H-GAC’s community development program, which also includes hosting Regional Review Committee scoring meetings for the Community Development Block Grant funds.
