CLEAN CITIES PROGRAM AGREEMENT

Background

Established in 1966, H-GAC’s Houston Galveston Clean Cities Coalition provides education about and encourages the use of alternative fuels and advanced vehicle technologies reducing vehicle emissions. The primary goal of the program is to accelerate the use of U.S. domestic alternative fuels, advanced vehicle technologies and idle reduction technologies thereby reducing nitrogen oxides (NOx) pollutants which are a critical component in the formation of ground-level ozone. The Clean Cities Program supports the activities of other H-GAC air quality programs such as Clean Vehicles, Commute Solutions, and Drayage Loan.

Current Situation

U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)  seeks to double the funding for the existing $45,000 contract (Total contract value $90,000) and extend the Clean Cities Program contract for a second year. H-GAC staff recommends acceptance of funds from U.S. DOE for continuing assigned work efforts as outlined above.
