| | | | | | | | Background | The Texas Clean Rivers Program is a partnership between the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), regional agencies, and local governments, with the aim of improving the quality of surface water that flows through our landscapes, cities and towns. Since 1992, H-GAC has been the lead agency responsible for implementing the Texas Clean Rivers Program in four major basins that cover over 66% of the H-GAC region (see Attachment). | | | | | | | | Current Situation | TCEQ contracted with H-GAC to provide a variety of water quality monitoring services during FY15-17, supplementing local efforts. A review of current local monitoring plans revealed a need to increase monitoring efforts in coastal areas
The TCEQ has requested that H-GAC add 20 new water quality monitoring locations to its current work plan and conduct biological monitoring at 2 sites biannually. This work will commence immediately and end on August 31, 2017 |
